An IT (Information technology) Infrastructure
is the foundation or framework that supports IT system of an
organization. IT infrastructure are the components required to operate
and manage enterprise
IT environments. These components include: software, hardware, networking components,
operating system, and data storage, all of which are used to deliver IT
services and solutions.

Hardware
In the components of an IT
infrastructure, the hardware play a vital role in IT infrastructure, Hardware includes servers, data centers, personal computers
and other type of hardware devices and equipment.
1. Servers
A server is a type of software
program or hardware device
that accepts and responds to requests made over a network. The server commonly
refers to the computer system which receives a request by his clients. The
device that makes the request and receives a response from the server is called
a client.
A server is a main hardware device in the IT infrastructure.
2. Data centers
The Data centers are also a type
of hardware in the components of an IT infrastructure, which contains
centralized locations where computing and networking equipment is concentrated
for the purpose of storing, processing, collecting, distributing or allowing access
to large amount of data in the data centers.
Software
In the components of an IT
infrastructure, a term software refers to the applications like: web servers, CMS
(content management systems), and the OS (operating system) like windows, Linux®.
The OS (operating system) is responsible for managing and controlling system
resources and hardware, and makes the connection between software and all
system hardware components.
Networking Components
The networking type of components
also contain with the components of an IT infrastructure. The networking
components consists of internet connectivity, firewalls and
security, as well as hardware like routers, switches, and cables. These
networking components are necessary for every type of business network.
1. Switches
The Switches provide
a main role in networking components of IT infrastructure, it allow devices to
communicate with each other on your network, as well as with other networks, it
acts as a controller, creating a connection between computers, printers to a
network, as well as with other networks. Cisco Network provides a variety of
different type of series of switches for networking.
2. Routers
The Routers are also provide a
main role in every business network, it connects multiple networks with each
other. The Routers are used to connect the number of computing devices on those
networks to the Internet, so the routers play a vital role by
interconnecting multiple devices within an enterprise network in networking.
The routers are very necessary for every type of networks like: home network or
business network as well as public type of networks.
3. Firewalls
A firewall is
a main security device or a type of security software program in
networking components of IT infrastructure. A network security device which is
used to monitor incoming and outgoing network traffic and decides whether to
allow or to block specific traffic, according to the set of rules of security
set on him. A firewall protects your network or computer from hackers or
other different types of security threat in networking or internet.
4. Access Points
An access point is also a type of networking device in IT
infrastructure that creates a WLAN (wireless local area network) for your
business network, this type of networking device is used in wireless Ethernet
networks in place of an Ethernet switch. The access points are also provide
bridging functions between wireless Ethernet hosts and wired Ethernet points,
it also can connect with a wired type of router, switch or hub with the use of
an Ethernet cable in networking.
Data Storage
The
data storage play a vital role in an IT infrastructure. A storage device is a
type of computer hardware device that is used for storing every single type of
data (zip files, media files, program files and other) for temporarily and
permanently in a different type of storage devices. The storage devices
includes HDD (Hard disk drive), FDD (Floppy disk drive), USB (Universal serial
bus), CD (Compact disc), DVD (Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video
Disc), memory stick, tape cassette, zip
diskette, data tapes etc. These type of storage
devices can be an internal or external to a computer, server or any
similar computing device.
